Nanjing sanitation workers are revolting! On November 16th, Nanjing sanitation workers went on strike and dumped huge piles of garbage in the street to protest their poor treatment and unsatisfactory pay.
The unhappy workers are owed long overdue performance pay and believe they are worth more than the standard salary of 2,000RMB per month.
Starting around 4pm yesterday, the workers began to shovel trash onto streets around Nanjing, with the majority of it being piled up in the Drumtower district.
The refuse was so widespread and so deep (3-4 meters in some places) it disrupted the flow of traffic in and out of the area. The city was then forced to dispatch their “emergency sanitation team” to clean it up, apparently answering the question, “who sanitizes the sanitation workers?”
