Hide your kids, hide your wife and hide your husband too, because a 23-year-old man surnamed Yin truly, actually believes ”’the earth is going to be destroyed” in 2012. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) for the young agitated man, he will miss the spectacular event, as he will be serving jail time over the next two years for making a false bomb threat at the Jin Mao Tower in March.
On March 1st, the obsessed fan of the apocalyptic Hollywood film 2012 showed up on the 88th floor sight-seeing hall of the Jin Mao Tower and demanded to talk to high-level city leaders or he claimed he would blow himself up.
However, the young man didn’t quite have the Hollywood budget to make a real bomb, so he resorted to strapping on a fake homemade replica around his waist while wielding two knives and a cellphone.
The former hotpot restaurant employee boiled up havoc and panic among sightseers upon his arrival, but was eventually convinced to “disarm” himself by the police after an hour-long stand off.
“I want more people to know that the Earth will be destroyed in 2012, so they still have time to build more shelters to save lives,” Yin said in court.
What could possible cause the end of the world in only one year?
Well, perhaps the U.S and China will take to fisticuffs over a trade war, or maybe the heated words between Israel and Iran will turn radioactive, or maybe the collapse of the Euro will lead to a black hole of debt that eventually consumes the entire Earth.
Whatever way the world decides to off itself (either next year or in 10 billion), we’d prefer it did it quickly — and preferably without any asteroids or Aerosmith.
