Open Mic Night feat. Nickelsen & Nylander @ Yuyintang
This week’s open mic night at Yuyintang features a Scandinavian duo Steinar Nickelsen (Norway) and Erik Nylander (Sweden). Not really clear what the deal is for the open mic thing, but their usual spiel is that the open stage starts at 10pm, and entrance is free for musicians.

Lu Jun: Darkness Visible @ Elisabeth de Brabant Art Center
Zhuhai artist Lu Jun squirts ink onto water pictures to create Chinese landscape depictions. Exhibition runs until the end of December from Tuesday to Sunday of each week.

The Shanghai Repertory Theater presents The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm @ The Ke Center It’s the 200th anniversary of the publication of the Brothers Grimm fable! Celebrate its longevity by witnessing SRT’s revamp of the legendary fairy tale that follows the colorful troupe of characters after the “happily ever after.”

The Shanghai Photographer “Best Of” Night @ Dada Bar
Photography aficionados rejoice! Shanghai’s esteemed art venue gives you a compilation of the most noteworthy displays from the 10 events over the past two years, along with several brand new exhibits. Those of you harboring a “photographic” memory will recognize Scott Brauer’s photographic documentation of the constantly shifting Chinese society or the first monograph of Beijing’s underground music culture by Matthew Niederhauser, among many others.
