RAS Modern Chinese History Study Group @ Sasha’s
Wish you were back in college still learning things and getting smarter? The Royal Asiatic Society is hosting a Chinese history study group on the 2nd and 4th Monday of every month, screening lectures on DVD from Professor Richard Baum in the series “The Fall and Rise of China.” Each meeting will screen a 30 minute lecture, followed by an hour discussion. This week’s topics: Korea, Taiwan and the Cold War (1950 – 1954) and Socialist Transformation 1953- 1957. Entry costs 20RMB for members and 50RMB for non-members.

BEAN Networking Night @ The Shed

Sub-Cinema Animation Month @ Dada
For the month of December, Dada is holding their ever-popular Tuesday Subcinema movie nights, but with a special twist! It’s all full-length classic animation films this month, starting this week with Transformers: The Movie (1986). Forget Michael Bay, in this 1986 film you can watch the Autobots battle a planet-consuming robot. Tagline: “Beyond good. Beyond evil. Beyond your wildest imagination.” As always, no cover, free popcorn.

The Night Market @ Dada
It’s time for our favorite monthly market! Happening at Dada again this week is The Night Market, just in time for Christmas shopping. Come check out local independent designers and creatives hawking their one-of-a-kind wares. Participants this week include cukimber (jewelry and other accessories), ukA (japanese leather goods), label88, the hat lab, Shoko, and Audrey’s Vintage. There will also be sauce wraps by Little Blue Cart and banana bread from Funky Monkey. Get a drink and get some shopping done to tunes selected by The Beat DJs Sacco and Morgan – 60s rock and soul, Motown, etc. They’ll also be hosting a charity raffle to benefit Baoji Xinxing Aid.

Shanghai Sharks vs Xinjiang Flying Tigers @ Yuanshen Stadium
The Shanghai Shark’s battle the Xinjiang Flying Tigers this week at Yuanshen stadium. They aren’t doing too hot on the road these days, so here’s hoping their home game shows improvement.
