As expected, French national and former Fulham manager Jean Tigana has signed a one-year contract to coach Shanghai Shenhua in the upcoming season. He joins fellow Frenchman and former Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka. But while Anelka will make a reported $300,000 per week for his two-year contract, Tigana claims the move isn’t for money, but rather a “sport and life decision.”
Of course reports didn’t reveal exactly how much he’ll be making to come on as the 16th coach in Shenhua’s history. The club reportedly “has quotas” to hire three more foreign players for the next season, and Tigana will be the one to choose who. Come March, when the CSL season starts, who knows who else we might see donning blue.
