My oh my, today’s the 30th of Dec! We are inching towards a brand new year – 2012! This is the time where most people sit back and reflect about what they have done in 2011 – the highs and the lows. And also it’s a time where everyone looks to the future imaging what’s going to be lined up for him or her in the year of the dragon!
We went out to hunt down the perfect spa for you to treat yourself these last few days of 2011!
Subconscious day spa is the first full-service spa in Shanghai that’s committed to an eco-friendly mindset. The name reflects the Spa’s wholesome approach to nourish not just the body, but also the soul and mind.
The Spa’s concept was conceived by the two founders, both of whom are Asian American, mothers of a young child, and are committed to eco-friendly and organic lifestyle.
The duo kindly gave us a tip or 2 on what kind of spa they are and how they differentiate themselves to other spas in Shanghai and also what are their most pampering packages!
Shanghaiist. What’re the guiding principles of your spa? Is there a motto?
SDS: The guiding principles are very simple: eco-friendly and organic approach. We’re committed to healing the mind, body, and soul.
What do you want your customers to feel after doing a spa package with you guys?
SDS: Relaxed, refreshed, rejuvenated; both body and mind.
The interior decoration of your spa is amazing! Who did the design of the interior for you and what’s the overall mood and tone you want to set?
SDS: Noel Israel (the same designer who designed Wagas) is our designer. It’s a simple but elegant design, with the attention to details such as organic and eco-friendly furnishings, and features a lot of natural lighting, which is natural nourishment to human body and mind.
What are some of your star packages products that your spa provides?
SDS: Our hot stone treatment is amazing. But basically all our massage packages are exceptional in the sense that they help achieve a balance sense of being while boasting various focuses on whatever stresses our patrons would like to relieve most.
There are many spa and massage places in Shanghai, what are your differentiating factors?
SDS: We don’t feature luxury and pampering in the traditional sense. But rather, we approach our patron’s needs in a wholesome and eco-friendly sense so that they’re rejuvenated both body and mind. We believe this is much more important to our patrons who may prefer a true relaxing haven in fast-paced Shanghai.
Any plans to expand outside of Shanghai?
SDS: Not at the moment. But given the right time and right opportunity, we’d love to bring our superb services to many more people.
Did we mention that they also have a yoga studio? Why wait? Call Subconscious to book in a silky body scrub and a hot stone massage this weekend!
