Buffet performing with the Quebe Sisters Band in Nebraska
What the what?! Apparently Warrent Buffet has already sent in a video of himself singing and playing guitar for this year’s CCTV Spring Festival Gala, to be aired on a special web broadcast on New Year’s Day (January 23.)
No word on what song it will be, nor whether we’ll see a clip of that charming, wrinkly old face on the actual five-hour CCTV Gala the evening before. Foreign celebrities don’t often feature in the gala, as all five hours are already chock-a-block full of Chinese celebs, minority dancing, space-themed acrobatics and goldfish magic. Plus this week Hu Jintao made it abundantly clear that there shall be no promoting of the other team’s culture.
It should probably come as no surprise that the one guy China calls in to spotlight from abroad has been voted number the top money manager of the 20th century. Supposedly CCTV executive Wang Pingjiu enlisted the 81-year-old “investment god” to sing for the program. Wang must have somehow known about Buffet’s performances in the past, which we’ve highlighted for you in videos below.
Warren Buffet stirred quite a debate in China in 2010 over the ethics of wealth and charity when he and Bill Gates stopped by during their Billionaire’s Pledge campaign.
Here’s Buffet dressed up as Axl Rose for a Geico commercial (skip to 1:42 for the really awkward shot of him in a wig and kilt):
Here’s something more in line with what we’ll probably see in a few weeks – Buffet with a ukulele:
