This Month’s Adoptable Pet from Second Chance Animal Aid.
Age: Approx. 2 years
Health: Treated for fleas, mites, worms, vaccinated, and neutered at SCAA’s vet partner, PAW.
Ideal Home: Foxy thrives on activity – he’s not a couch potato’s canine! Foxy enjoys walking and running, especially alongside his foster mom riding on her electric scooter. Foxy is good with older kids and is curious about cats (although the ones he’s met so far have not been OK with him), however he doesn’t like other dogs and would require an experienced dog walker.
Foxy was found wandering a family apartment compound in Gubei District. His rescuer was immediately impressed with how curious, gentle, and friendly he was – so much so that she was sure he was a pet and not a stray. Unfortunately for Foxy, this was indeed the case as it was not long before his previous owner responded to a lost dog notice to confirm Foxy was his but that he didn’t want him anymore – he’d dumped Foxy outside to fend for himself and was content to pass his responsibility on to the rescuer.
Thankfully for Foxy, his rescuer took him in and stuck by him through some separation anxiety and her cat’s stress at having a dog in the house seeking attention and playing with the kids. Foxy revelled in his new-found role as a treasured but temporary family member. Foxy’s rescuer was tempted to keep him, but it wasn’t a realistic option for the family.
Foster parents describe Foxy as a small dog with big character and lots of energy. He listens well and respects a confident pack leader. Initially wary of being trapped in confined spaces, Foxy preferred his meals outside the kitchen when he first arrived in their home, fearing his foster parents would close the door on him and leave. However, once he trusted his foster parents, he eagerly followed them into any room and settled into an easy routine.
Foxy embodies the amazing spirit of forgiveness animals seem to possess despite being neglected at the hands of previous owner. He is a loyal companion waiting to offer his energy and enthusiasm for life to the right family.
