The Shanghai Meteorological Bureau stated this morning that low temperature forecasts will drop by 7 to 9 degrees in the next 48 hours, with winds expected to reach up to 61 km/h.
From the Shanghai Daily:
Today’s low should reach zero, with a further drop to 1 or 2 degrees below zero the next two mornings, the observatory said.
The mercury is expected to reach even lower – to 5 degrees below zero in the suburbs with frosty and icy conditions.
Today is forecast overcast to cloudy with a high of 3 degrees. Tomorrow should also be cloudy with a low at minus 1 degree and a high of 4, the observatory said.
As a result of the relatively severe weather conditions, thousands of travelers were stranded at Pudong international airport yesterday morning, with more than 80 flights canceled or delayed as a result of the cold front. 10 international flights have also been rerouted to Hongqiao Airport since Sunday.
Perhaps some enterprising father will make use of the cold weather to run through some basic character-building drills for his kids, like the Underoos Outdoor Challenge, for instance.
