THURSDAY

Ethnic Thursdays @ Fennel Lounge
Heh, in this questionably-named weekly evening of music, local musicians at Fennel Lounge play you music from around the planet: Yunnan, Xinjiang, Africa, South America, that sort of thing. You know, the ethnic places. They'll also be pairing the musical offerings with weekly creative cocktail specials.
Free entry // 9pm // The Fennel Lounge // 217 Zhenning Lu, near Dongzhu'anbang Lu (镇宁路217号, 近东诸安浜路)

FRIDAY

Jungle Woods @ YYT
A bit difficult to find too much info on this concert, but Yuyintang is hosting their second Spring Concert featuring a band called Jungle Woods, and two others called Orange and DerWish. Jungle Woods does kind of an easy listening light rock thing, check them out on their Douban.
40RMB, 30RMB students // 10pm // Yuyintang // 851 Kaixuan Lu, by Yan'an Xi Lu (凯旋路851号, 近延安西路口)

Rock Suey @ Ricky's Sports Bar
You know it's scraping the bottom of the barrel when you list a classic rock cover band on a Friday night, but so be it! Plenty of other concerts happening Sat/Sun, but if you live in Pudong maybe a decent after work option for Friday could be hanging out at a sports bar, tossing back some brews, and believing in a thing called love. Guitar.
Free entry // Rickey's Sports Bar // No. 930-936 Pudong Avenue

SATURDAY

Immanu El @ YYT
Sweedish post-rock band Immanu El plays Yuyintang this Saturday. They're touring Asia and Europe promoting their third album "In Passage". Expect atmospheric pop and lots of heart. Check them out on their myspace. Support from local post rock band 21 Grams. Presented by New Noise.
80RMB // 9pm // Yuyintang // 851 Kaixuan Lu, by Yan'an Xi Lu (凯旋路851号, 近延安西路口)

Acoustic set @ Grub & Groove
We like this place and we want you to like it too. They have mad decent prices on imported beers and a right friendly attitude towards the world. This Saturday they're hosting a matchup of a Bulgarian vocalist and a French guitarist. Drink specials include Aussie bottled beers and Kronenbourg draft all 4 for 100RMB. Cocktails 3 for 100RMB.
Free entry // 8:30pm // Grub & Groove // The Loft, Bldg 2, 283 Jianguo Xi Lu, near Jiashan Lu (建国西路283号, 尚街X楼, 近嘉善路)

Free Love Armada @ Bee Dees
Bee Dees Music Bar hosts Free Love Armada, "a swirling arc weld of bone crunching drum and bass grooves topped off with and screaming guitar solos and soaring vocals." Expect heavy blues rock along the lines of Zepplin and Hendrix.
Free entry // 10pm // Bee Dees // 433 Dagu Lu, near Chengdu Bei Lu (大沽路433号, 近成都北路)

SUNDAY

STD pres. Jorma Kaukonen (of Jefferson Airplane) @ YYT
The original guitarist from Jefferson Airplane is playing a very unexpected concert in Shanghai this Sunday thanks to local promoters STD! You can get an idea of what he does solo from some video clips on his website. This guy knows his way around a guitar string, and it'll certainly be worth clearing your Sunday evening. Support by Arms and Legs.
100RMB // 10pm // Yuyintang // 851 Kaixuan Lu, by Yan'an Xi Lu (凯旋路851号, 近延安西路口)

Lamb of God Pre-Party Concert @ DClub
Legendary metal icons Lamb of God play Shanghai on Valentine's Day this year, and to get you pumped some local talent is throwing a Pre-Party two days beforehand. On February 12 catch a night of heavy metal featuring Chaos Mind (local), Moon Tyrant (expat), and Prophets (Mongolian).
40RMB // DClub // 738 Changyang Lu, near Tongbei Lu

not mentioned, but we got Love Bang #14 情人节 Special at Dada on Saturday night...love songs from across the genre-spectrum (hip hop, motown, dubstep, slow-jams...) and we're giving away some free drank with a contest over at heatwolves.com - party is free, drinks are cheap and real.

also excited about the Lamb Of God warmup party because I can't afford Lamb Of God tickets. big up to BO for organizing that.
