Midweek Music Preview is our weekly rundown of everything happening on stages across the city. On the docket this week: Split Works brings us big-name indie rockers The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Westlife is somehow back in town already, and Trash A Go-Go signs off! Read on for details, or check out our calendar for more.
Split Works pres. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart @ Mao Livehouse
Calling it a warm up for JUE Festival next month, Split Works are bringing in New York indie-pop at its best: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Upbeat, dreamy and lots of acoustics. Hard not to like, unless you hate happiness (if so, see concert below). They’re in town smack dab in the middle of their Asia tour. Support by Boys Climbing Ropes. Presale tickets are sold out, and while the people at Split Works say you’ll probably be fine to get in at the door, if you’re nervous you can head over and purchase them early at their office at 2A, 100 Fuxing Lu, near Yongfu Lu. (Psst, Speaking of tickets, Death Cab for Cutie is also on sale and there’s a seating chart so buy early!)

The FINAL Trash A Go-Go feat. The Barbacans @ Yuyintang
After two years of monthly punk/garage rock concerts bringing us mad acts from all over the planet, those behind Trash A Go-Go are finally (and sadly) bringing things to a close. The final concert features Italian garage rockers The Barbacans, with support by some Go-Go regulars: Friend or Foe, The Instigation, The Macaronians, and of course DJ B.O. Last chance – don’t miss it!
