Well, what to make of this. First it was rice cookers being used to steam cheeseburgers into something resembling a cheese-caked cow pie on a soggy bun, and then it was the little-known offshoot, the Rice Cooker Hamburger Potato Soup. And now, Weibo brings us Rice Cooker Oreo Pudding, the latest rice cooker-based experimental munchies entry that looks to intrigue stoners, 8-year-old Emerils and pregnant women in equal measure.
The confection apparently involves boiling rice with milk, and then dumping in a dozen or so Oreo cookies before the milk starts boiling, to eventually result in a chocolatey rice-pudding mix that would probably taste divine in a shaomai.
On one hand we think the internet has gone too far with the rice cooker-used-for-American-junk food meme, and on the other hand we’re looking forward to what Sinoriffic creation is going to pop out of the rice cooker next. If anyone has a go at making the Rice Cooker Oreo Pudding, let us know how it goes!
