15 suspects were detained by Shanghai police in connection with an alleged coffee bar charging exorbitant prices for their coffee (and other items) to customers after luring them in with young women.
Police said that the coffee bar owner, surnamed Zhou, wanted to save his failing business and colluded with his girlfriend to bring in the girls to bring in the men with the ‘moo-laa.’ They were apparently so successful that they scammed customers out of a staggering 600,000 yuan!
From the Shanghai Daily report: “One victim, surnamed Liu, said he went to the coffee house in downtown Putuo District on April 12 to see a woman he met online. They were later joined by another woman. In the end, Liu was billed 9,028 yuan for two cups of coffee, some cocktail and snacks.“
Some people never learn do they.
