Peking Uni professor Kong Qingdong tells complaining tax-payers to f*ck off
It's been some time since we last heard from everyone's favourite Peking University professor Kong Qingdong, and we're glad to report he's not just alive, he remains in top form.
In a recent Internet television talk show, the (supposed) 73rd generation descendant of Confucius was asked for his thoughts about Chongqing's 2.5-billion-yuan "red" theme park. First announced last July, the fate of the revolutionary theme park now hangs in the balance with the political drama surrounding the ongoing Bo Xilai / Gu Kailai saga.
Kong followed with a tirade lambasting critics of the theme park:
This really isn't a lot of money. You divide this figure by their population. This money is really a very normal sum. These days, there are a lot of people taking money to rile up the masses, saying, "Why are you spending so much money on this and that?"Earlier this year, Kong Qingdong touched off a massive debate by calling Hong Kongers "bastards, running dogs of the British, and thieves" in response to a bitchfight that took place on the MTR between mainland tourists and local passengers. What's a lot of money? What's very little money? You say this money is a lot, but in actual fact, it's very little on a per capita basis. What's wrong with each of us taking a few tens or even a hundred yuan to embark on something like this? Why is everything we do wrong? Then what should we do with the money according to you?
Today we have these people, these small handful of traitors that are totally beguiling the masses with their incessant tax talk. Every five minutes, they will say, "Oh I'm a tax-payer, you can't do this and that."
So what if you're a tax-payer? I'm a tax-payer too. You think you can direct the government just because you're a tax-payer? It's right that you pay taxes. If you don't pay taxes, you can't bugger off. If you're living in this country, you're a tax-payer. Are tax-payers not humans? You are first a human being, and then when you grow up, you pay taxes. So stop pretending to speak on behalf of other tax-payers. I am disgusted by all those people who keep saying we need to do this and that just because they are tax-payers. You can fuck off.
A month before that, Kong awarded Russia's Vladimir Putin with the on-again-off-again Confucius Peace Prize. Unfortunately, Putin chose not to attend the ceremony, pleading ignorance through his spokesman that he had only heard about the award through the press, so Kong was forced to give the award to two blonde Russian babes instead.
