That familiar voice you hear in this video clip? It does indeed belong to Melissa Chan, the Al-Jazeera English correspondent who was effectively kicked out of China earlier this year when government officials refused to extend her press credentials. But she’s not back in China just yet.
In what she calls her “final report” from the People’s Republic, an Al-Jazeera crew revisits on her behalf a couple whose world was changed forever when their son died in the devastating Sichuan earthquake of 2008. They’ve since been trying to have another child through in-vitro fertilisation, but so far all attempts have failed.
