EcoArt Exhibit @ Plaza 889
Ever wanted to know what can be made out of a bunch of rubbish? This exhibition in the Plaza 889 mall has over 200 unique pieces of man-made trash art on display and acts as a reminder of our consumerism and its increasing traces on our planet. The pieces of the exhibition are part of an annual contest held by Touchmedia (the company we owe those in-taxi advertisement screens that make sure we never feel alone and unattended on a cab ride to) and intend to raise awareness of environmental protection.
Free Admission // Yueda 889 // 10am-10pm daily, 889 Wanhangdu Lu, near Kangding Lu (万航渡路889号, 近勘定路)
SubCinema @ DADA presents Reefer Madness (1936) / Cheech and Chong’s Up In Smoke (1978)
Did anyone say Marijuana? This week SubCinema brings you an adorable couple of flicks dealing with the drug.
Reefer Madness is a 1936 American propaganda exploitation film that gained cult status as a piece of unintentional comedy. The movie tells of melodramatic events that ensue when high school students are lured by pushers to try “marijuana” — from a hit and run accident, to manslaughter, suicide, attempted rape, and descent into madness.
Up in Smoke: Watch dope heads Pedro and Stoner (Cheech/Chong) on a quest for their favorite drug that leads them all the way down to Mexico and on the rock stage.
Free // Doors at 8pm, movie at 9pm // Dada // 115 Xingfu Lu, near Fahuazhen Lu (幸福路115号, 近法华镇路)
