As Peking University scrambles to deal with allegations made by former professor Zou Hengfu that its deans and department heads are “fornicating” with campus restaurant waitresses, Han Linguo (韩令国), a businessman and financial commentator, has joined the party, adding fuel to the fire by saying that PKU academics have been in bed not just with the waitresses, but *gasp* also their own students.
In a post on his Tencent Weibo account that has since been deleted by site administrators, Han charged:
I don’t talk about PKU deans sleeping with waitresses because I don’t have evidence, but I have evidence to prover that some PKU deans and professors sleep with female students. If PKU president dares to bet, I want the president, other PKU leaders and principle inspection committee to resign and never go back to work as long as I can prove more than five officials more senior than deans have slept with students. (If I win,) all leaders in PKU should go. If I do not have the evidence, I cannot escape the punishment of law.
While dismissing all allegations by someone they have described as a disgruntled former employee, Peking University said it had initiated an investigation into restaurants involved and to accept external complaints. The university also said it had been trying to reach Zou himself but all attempts have failed so far. The investigations yielded no evidence to prove Zou’s allegations, added a Peking University spokesperson.
Meanwhile, multiple Chinese media outlets have urged Zou to name the professors involved and to provide concrete evidence.
Zou later posted on his Sina Weibo account a letter allegedly written by a PKU student saying the current president of PKU’s students union got elected through bribery, but the student himself soon came out online to deny he had ever written such a letter, and condemned Zou.
Zou has since deleted the letter, but this definitely won’t be the last we’ll hear of this saga.
