Evil Voodoo #6 @ DADA
Techno, electro and tribal house are on the turntables when DJ John Yang, The Uhhh and Empfab haunt DADA tonight. Will there be creepy voodoo cult rituals? Exotic dances? Witchdoctors impaling dolls of the patrons that refuse to go with the beat? Probably not, but some pretty cool sounds that will keep your feet busy till Morning.

“bring the dogs out group exhibition” Vernisage @ ifa Gallery
ifa Gallery is a charming art space located in an old residence on Changde Lu. The whole house was build in 1923 and since then has been only carefully renovated to leave the old beauty in the architecture untouched. The last time we visited, ifa Gallery had a selection of cool Chinese and some international artists on display that felt refreshingly different and unique (no, we don’t wanna draw comparisons here!) and we are excited to see what the new exhibition will host.
And here’s what we can expect: ” “Bring the dogs out” is an exhibition on contemporary animal allegories, where each allegory extends its representation over the course of entire generations and human mindsets. Even if we may not speak about the term “revolution”, we can talk about the “elephant” – the green one with colored eyelashes. The use of animals for humans in allegories may appear as an attempt to be socially correct, politically correct or discreet, but the more popular the symbols in the allegory the less it is the case.” On display: Pieces by Pan Honggang, Denghui, Xuzhe, Shao Shao, Li Rui, Fu Yuxiang, Wu Junyong. From 1 September till 4 November 2012.
