Tragedy for a young couple in Shenzhen. While travelling to her fiancée’s home town in Heyuan in preparation for their wedding, due to take place next month, a young woman stuck her arm out to flag down an approaching bus. The bus did not slow down and hit her, slamming her into the roadside barrier 4 metres away before running her over and trapping her beneath the vehicle.
By the time emergency services arrived, the woman, 20, was already dead. The Southern Metro Daily interviewed passengers who claimed that the bus hit an oil-slick and was unable to stop. However, drivers at the scene claimed that the bus was speeding and ran a red light, tyre marks behind the bus, which stretched for over 20-metres, demonstrate how hard it was for the driver to stop.
The woman’s fiancée, surnamed Gao, said the couple had been together for four years and planned to get married after Mid-Autumn Festival.
