The other shoe has finally dropped. Disgraced politician and the former next leader of the Communist Party, Bo Xilai, has today been expelled from the Communist Party and accused of multiple crimes including culpability for the death of Neil Heywood.
As well as charges surrounding the defection of Wang Lijun and the actions of his wife, Gu Kailai, Bo has also been accused of maintaining “improper sexual relations with multiple women”, a charge which has caused considerable interest on Weibo, far more than the run-of-the-mill (for China) corruption allegations.
The kicker, and perhaps the real reason Bo, out of all the crooked officials there are in China, comes towards the end of the official statement:
Bo Xilai’s actions created grave repercussions and did massive harm to the reputation of the party and state, producing an extremely malign effect at home and abroad.
No-one likes having egg on their face, including the CCP.
