There was uproar amongst Chinese netizens after footage emerged of a Chinese Toyota Corolla driver, Li Jianli, being brutally attacked during anti-Japanese protests last month.
Chinese news sources are reporting that a man, surnamed Cai, was arrested in Henan on October 2nd. An official Xi’an police Weibo account released the following statement:
Press release: Xi’an 9-15 protest Japanese car owner Li Jianli injury case solved, suspect Cai arrested, case under review.
Meanwhile, Mr Li remains in hospital where, according to his wife, news is not good:
He can move his left leg and left hand, so he can hold a drink, but he can’t move his right hand, nor any part of his right leg. This has been the case for two days, there has been no improvement.
