“Actress of the decade“, Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon star Zhang Ziyi, is to appear in a California court this Friday where she is suing an rumour website Boxun.com for libel over allegations published earlier this year that she was Bo Xilai’s mistress.
Want China Times reported that Boxun was one of the 27 defendants named in Zhang’s suit, filed in June 2012. The rumours surrounding Zhang and Bo have re-emerged following the slightly cryptic mention, in the official statement announcing Bo’s sacking, of him maintaining “improper sexual relations with multiple women”.
Zhang’s US John Mason, has released a statement completely rebuking the allegations, which he claims have cost his client over $750,000 in lost work and endorsements:
She has not even met Bo, and there is not a single photograph of them together anywhere.
Chinese-journalist Jiang Weiping attested to the Telegraph about Bo’s predilection for extra-marital affairs:
I think it’s an extremely conservative guess to say he had 100 mistresses. He was very powerful. He had girlfriends himself, and he also used women as a commodity to give to other officials.
Zhang was alleged to have been $100m over 10 years for having sex with Bo and other high-ranking Chinese officials.
