Midweek Music Preview is a rundown of all the events happening on stages across Shanghai. On the docket this week: Twin drones from France and New Zealand emit their soundwaves, LeftRight from Beijing rock Mao with Chinese new metal, and Captain Tifus play one more show in Shanghai. And all fans of modern folky music get double lucky, as we see a strong lineup with Zhang Jianyu on Saturday and Scotland’s The Fence Collection next Tuesday! And if that’s still not enough, head over to our calendar for more.
High Wolf @ Yuyintang
High Wolf from France plays what could be described an ambient musical experiment. Somewhat touching elements of drone music and minimal, his tunes seem to draw landscapes and deep oceans, and you can probably dive into the music best if you try not to expect anything and simply let yourself surround and surprise by the soundwaves.

Captain Tifus @ Yuyintang
You missed Captain Tifus at 390 last week? Sometimes in life you get a second chance to make up for mistakes, and this could be one of them. They extend their China trip for a bit more, and hit Yuyintang with their ska-latin Balkan rock. Support by Death to Giants (profane death pop), Battle Cattle sacred cow punk) and Threshold of Force (extreme cello). Now if that doesn’t sound like fun times…

The Fence Collective @ Yuyintang
The Fence Collective is an all-star cast of musicians associated to the Scotland-based indie music label Fence Records. Although the label’s musical roots are somewhat folky, the collective boasts a range of styles that also incorporate electronic, rock and even pop music. Next Tuesday they leave the small fishing village of Anstruther for a show at Yuyintang.
