Pencil This In is all the things you’d want to do this Monday through Thursday. On Monday night, you can see the result of the amazing 48 Hour Film Project. Tuesday night is another movie night, but not so much of the artsy variety: Sub-Cinema contributes a grisly zombie flict to the season of the witch. And while most of the big Halloween parties already happened last weekend, there’s still a lot going on on Wednesday, particularly in the bars and lounges! Read on for all the details, or check out our calendar for more!

The Shanghai 48 Hour Film Project: From Dream to Scream @ Shanghai Theatre Academy
The 48 Hour Film Project is a worldwide simultaneous event in which film teams create whole movies within one weekend. And with whole movies we’re not talking about youtube shovelware about your adorable pet, but complete short flics. On Friday night, the teams get a character, a prop, a line of dialogue and a genre, all to be included in the respective movie. 48 hours of writing, shooting, editing and scoring later, the movie must be complete. In 2012, over 50,000 filmmakers will make almost 4,000 films in 120 cities on 6 continents around the world, and the results of the Shanghai project can be watched this Monday night at two screenings. Check the schedule here.

Sub-Cinema: Zombie Flesh Eaters a.k.a. Zombi 2 @ DADA
When classic zombie movies come to mind, most people probably think of George A. Romero. In fact, Italy also spewed out quite a bunch of nasty and equally gory, yet influential flics in the 70s and 80s. Lucio Fulci’s Zombi 2 is one of them. And it has all the bood and ridiculousness in the story needed for a grand pre-Halloween night! The rundown: Ann Bolt’s father does some research work on the tropical island of Matool. When daddy’s ship returns to NY with a hungry zombie onboard and a note that daddy’s suffering from a mysterious infection, Ann does the dumbest thing imaginable: Island holidays with reporter Peter to find out what happened to her dad. Well, what do you reckon is going on there? Beach rave party? Not quite.
Free // Doors at 8pm, movie at 9pm // Dada // No. 115 Xingfu Lu, near Fahuazhen Lu (幸福路115号, 近法华镇路)
