Pencil This In is all the things you’d want to do this Monday through Thursday. This week we have another pizza deal for the greedy-guts like us, two famous short films by Chris Marker at DADA, a new exhibition by Jiang Weitao, and a new UV party at Ibiza. Fun stuff! Read on for all the details, or check out our calendar for more!
2-4-1 Pizzas @ The Food Central
We never get tired of pizza deals in the city! In fact, the more reasons to avoid the abysmal Chinese incarnation of Pizza Hut, the better. The thin crust pizzas at the fancy Food Central normally cost you about CNY90. All Monday long, you get another one on top for free. And on that occasion, you can also check out the new Wine Central on the first floor.

Sub-Cinema: 2 Short Movies @ DADA
Two of the most famous works by the recently deceased French visonary multimedia artist Chris Marker take the center stage at DADA tonight. La Jetée telly the story of a post-nuclear war experiment almost entirely by the use of still photographs, while Sans Soleil could be called a travel documentary with fictional elements. Most of the footage was taken in Japan and the former Portugese colony Guinea-Bisseau.

“2012” by Jiang Weitao @ Studio Rouge
Oh 2012, you’ve puzzled mankind with the end of the Maya calendar cycle (which some cuckoos interpret as dark end of the world prophecies), you’ve inspired shitty Hollywood movies! And now you’re the topic of Jiang Weitao’s brand new exhibition at Studio Rouge on the Bund. At some point even the pessimistic ones of us might come to the conclusion that expecting the end of days just because of an ancient calendar cycle… well, retarded. But we can’t deny that 2012’s seen some pretty fucked up highlights so far. A never-ending Euro crisis, saber rattling between Japan and China, Israel and Palestine, power plays in the USA and China… And artist Jiang Weitao struggled with a personal crisis. But so far, every crisis could be solved, right? Jiang’s works deal with order and chaos, re-creation, delight in life and the journey to the unknown, the inevitable end, which he expresses with Chinese ink on paper. The exhibition is on until December 21
