SCAA Pet(s) of the Month – Napoleon and Mathilde: Kitten Pair Offers Double the Cuddles
(Note: We are happy to inform you that previously featured pet Wolfgang has been adopted! He’s found a loving home with a pair of Shanghaiist readers)
We are a pair of kittens who, along with our other siblings, were found in a box in a busy laneway when we were 3 weeks old. Thankfully our rescuer and her friends worked together to hand raise us and we’re now happy, healthy foster kittens.
Healthcare History: Treated for fleas (Revolution) and worms (Panecur) and started vaccinations (Fel-O-Guard) at SCAA’s vet partner, PAW. Their 2nd feline virus vaccination and rabies injection are due early December. Ready for spay/neuter at 5.5 – 6 months old and SCAA subsidizes half the surgery cost at PAW for adopters. As with any male-female combo, adopting them together requires close monitoring as they near reproduction age and de-sexing one earlier than the other if appropriate.
Ideal Home: Kittens require ongoing socializing to grow into the loving cats we all desire. Napoleon and Mathilde are well on their way thanks to foster parents. An adoptive home should have enough time and attention for them. As active kittens, Napoleon and Mathilde would be suitable for older kids.
We Make a Great Pair of Pets – We Love People and Each Other
Two isn’t always better than one in the pet world and it can be twice the responsibility. But Napoleon and Mathilde make an ideal pair. Always next to or on top of each other, whether at rest and at play, it’s a good thing they’re different colors as it would be hard to tell where one of begins and the other ends when they nap intertwined!
Napoleon lives up to his name, dominating his foster parent’s attention and sometimes bullying his smaller sister. But Mathilde is a strong-willed female (as all Calicos are) who will surprise her brother with a takeover. Females are the boss of the cat world. Poor Napoleon is clueless about his impending defeat.
The kittens enjoy cuddles and stealing your body heat – so be prepared with a fleece blanket. They are active and curious kittens by day who surprisingly sleep well through the night. What a nice bonus for adopters in love with the idea of raising little ones without the dreaded middle-of-the-night antics young felines are famous for.
