Sex tape of Chongqing official and 18-year-old mistress leaked (UPDATE: Official sacked)

Images have emerged in the last few days purporting to be of Chongqing Beibei District boss Lei Zhengfu having sex with his 18-year-old mistress.

While we at Shanghaiist would not want to risk committing libel by saying definitively that the man in the photos is Lei, we must point out that there aren’t that many Party officials who look like a frog trying to concentrate on two things at once.

Chongqing’s Discipline Inspection Commission is looking into the allegations, their initial investigation has revealed that the video has not been faked or manipulated.
Netizens have nicknamed the official ‘Edison Lei’, in reference to the Edison Chen sex-tape(s) scandal which was covered in detail by Shanghaiist at the time.
Ji Xuguang, an investigative journalist who broke the story, has announced on his Weibo account that he has more evidence against the official which he has so-far held back due to its explicit nature. It’s worth noting that the angle from which the video is shot seems intended to capture Lei in the act, rather than for personal pornographic gratification, suggesting that either the mistress or someone with access to the hotel room recorded the video secretly.
Lei was apparently contacted about the sex-tape before publication, he told a reporter “These are all fake. But I just will not take any action against you guys.” Which is perhaps the lamest defence a Party official has yet to produce.
Accusations have also been made against Lei that he took advantage of his position to give his brother, a contractor, lucrative public works contracts. The brother, Lei Zhengkui, originally a farmer, has become a multimillionaire allegedly due to Lei’s largesse with regard to construction projects.
Update #1: And he’s gone! Reuters reports that Lei Zhengfu has been sacked following an investigation by the Party’s discipline watchdog which confirmed it was him in the video.
