In completely insane patriarchal bullshit news, the Hubei Government has instituted a pelvic exam for female candidates, as well as requiring women to submit information about their menstrual history.
A number of outraged university students gathered in front of the Hubei Human Resources and Social Security Department to protest the requirements. “We believe that pelvic exams have little connection with the duties of civil servants, and they violate the privacy of citizens. Through this demonstration, we call on government departments to drop the examinations,” said an organizer.
Students held signs with slogans such as “No pelvic exams!” and “No questions on menstrual history!” while others attached banners around their crotches with the Chinese character for ‘exam’ (检, jiǎn) crossed out.
Han Guijun, an associate professor at the Zhongnan University of Economics and Law told the Global Times that not only was the practice against Chinese labour and equal employment laws, but it could amount to employment discrimination.
The Human Resources and Social Security Department of Hubei Province would not comment on the protests.
