On Wednesday a woman gave birth on a Chengdu bus, much to the surprise of both the woman and the passengers around her. Video footage shows her sitting on the bus with her son, experiencing some discomfort, and then standing-up to pull a baby out of her trousers. Passengers scrambled to help her and both mother and baby survived the ordeal and are now doing fine. This is excellent news for both the woman and China’s moral conscience, and a welcome image-change for the Chengdu bus service, previously known only for their buses’ tendency to combust.
