Filial piety can only stretch so far. On Christmas eve a Weibo account registered to the name ‘Benxi Shuidong PSB bureau chief Zhang Lei’ posted some shocking revelations about the user’s family. According to the post Zhang’s own daughter is actually his father’s.
Zhang’s now ex-wife, a judge, is alleged to have been his father’s mistress, which was reportedly proven when a DNA test showed that Zhang’s ‘daughter’ was actually his half-sister. In a further twist it also showed that Zhang Lei was adopted (making the family tree even more confusing). The user posted the DNA results and a scan of his police I.D along with this information. The full post read:
One DNA test has destroyed my entire world, I always thought that my pearl of a daughter was my own. It turns out that she is the biological child of my own father, Zhang Xuejun. It also showed I’m not blood-related to my father. Suddenly it turns out that the child that I have brought up is actually my fathers and my ex-wife’s – Liu Yingjie – the director of Benxi lawcourts.
When reporters began to investigate the story on the 29th December it could not be verified. The post and the photos had been deleted and when they searched for a ‘Shuidong’ PSB it’s existence couldn’t be confirmed. The story has understandably created a maelstrom of online interest so the truth will no doubt emerge extremely quickly once netizens get searching (hint hint).
