There were chaotic scenes in Kunming as heavy fog left thousands of passengers stranded in the city’s Changshui airport over the past week. Nearly 300 flights were cancelled and passengers got angrier and angrier as customer services were overwhelmed.
The fog was yet more evidence of China’s extra-cold wintry weather that has been sweeping across the country over the past month. The fog lifted on Saturday, allowing relieved airport staff to begin working on a huge backlog of flights.
