A landslide in Zhaotong, Yunnan province, has killed at least 22 people, with an estimated two dozen others still trapped, according to local media.
According to the provincial government, the landslide, which occurred early on Friday morning, buried 16 homes in Gaopo village in Zhaotong. 22 deaths have been confirmed so far, including seven members of a single family, 20 to 30 people are believed to be still buried.
Yunnan is prone to earthquakes and landslides. In October a landslide buried an elementary school, killing 19 children.
