Pencil This In is all the things you’d want to do this Monday through Thursday. This week we have a Titanic exhibition, some X-Factor UK z-list celebrity rocking the stages of Muse and M2, a charity bazaar, new cinematic awesomeness from Sub-Cinema and a (not so) brand new Thursday night party concept at Zeal. Fun stuff. Read on for all the details, or check out our calendar for more!
Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition @ Shanghai Expo Park
The Titanic Artifact Exhibition makes a stopover in Shanghai until April 30th with around 300 artifacts that have been retrieved from the wreck of the infamous monster cruiser. So all the showcase objects might tell you an exciting story about the owner. OK, now you may ask why you should pay 100RMB just to gaze at some old tat when you could also get your kicks at the next flea market. Well, apparently they (partly) recreated the interior of the ship for the exhibition, including deck and passenger cabins for some fun exploration and authenticity. And it’s good to know that some of the Expo pavillions are used for something. Errm, can we still get those silly stamps there?
100RMB // 10am – 9:30pm // Shanghai Expo Park, C10 (former Greece Pavilion), 408 Bocheng Lu (上海市浦东新区博成路408号，世博园区C10)
APM Charity Bazaar @ Hong Mei Garden Compound
Support the work of APM with every kuai spent on this big charity bazaar in the Hong Mei Compound. There will be new clothes for children and adults and new toys at very cheap prices, off-label clothes and a big selection of second-hand products in good condition such as bags, shoes, clothes and much more.
10am – 1pm // Hong Mei Garden Compound // 2989 Hong Mei Lu not far from City Shop (红梅路2989号)
Sub-Cinema: Le Trou @ DADA
“Just as 4 cell-mates are about to launch their elaborate escape from a tiny cell, a detainee from a cell-block under repair is transferred in. The 4 all face certain conviction & long sentences. Does the young new jail-mate have the same incentive & if so can they trust him?” (IMDb) Jacques Becker’s 1960 film is based on the true story of a 1947 escape attempt at La Santé prison in Paris. As usual, free pop corn is awaiting you.
Free // Doors at 8pm, movie at 9pm // Dada // No. 115 Xingfu Lu, near Fahuazhen Lu (幸福路115号, 近法华镇路)
Glamour & Damage ft. Kitty Brucknell @ Muse
So apparently That Ms. Brucknell used to be one of the X-Factor UK season 8 finalists. Why that makes her exciting enough to present her on the stages of M2 (Tuesday) and Muse (Wednesday) – I have no idea. Maybe she’s awesome at something or they just needed a filler for the night. If it doesn’t work with enchanting the audience in Shanghai, maybe she could do “I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!” or so. But who knows, it’s all free so just go and find out for yourself.
Muse // 5/F, No. 99 Beijing Dong Lu, near Yuan Ming Yuan Lu (北京东路99号5楼, 近圆明园路)
BLISS Launch Party @ Zeal
Apparently one ladies night on Wednesday is not enough for Zeal, so they revive a new old Thursday night party. Ladies not only get free drinks until 11:30pm, but even a complimentary bottle of vodka under one condition: Make a reservation (+86 21 6328 8668) for 5 people or more. Yes, we assume that means you need to book a table. Nothing else to say. You know the deal, you know Zeal.
Free drinks for gals until 11:30pm // 9pm // Zeal // 6/F, 22 Zhongshan Dong Er Lu, near Xin Yongan Lu (中山东二路22号6楼，近新永安路)
