It’s official: PSY is in the ‘hai. The Morning News reports that the K-Pop superstar landed at Pudong Airport late last night, where he was promptly escorted to the VIP Lounge Area. To confirm the rumors that began swirling earlier last week, he is scheduled to perform a “surprise” show at Cuvve tomorrow night. Unfortunately, it appears that tickets for the “Gangnam Style attire” event have already sold out.
There are conflicting reports about the ticket prices, which are said to have cost a pretty penny. Rumors have minimum spends ranging anywhere from 5,000 to 20,000 RMB. Official prices haven’t yet been confirmed.
The Korean singer/rapper, who horse danced his way into the world’s heart earlier last year with “Gangnam Style,” is in town to film a performance for Phoenix TV’s Spring Festival Gala. He will reportedly be sharing the stage with Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling, and maybe even jump out of a helicopter or two.
Journalists followed PSY from the airport VIP parking lot all the way to the Pudong Four Seasons in Lujiazui, where he is reportedly staying in a Presidential Suite running at 30,000 RMB a night.
PSY arrived at Pudong Airport at around 9 pm last night.
The Morning News claims that the superstar hasn’t been too demanding during his Shanghai visit; he has supposedly only requested daily supplies of coffee and a dozen bottles of mineral water with the labels removed. And absolutely no cucumbers are allowed — PSY is allergic to them.
As for security, the singer needs two bodyguards present at all times to “prevent fan outbursts of emotion when rushing to the the stage during his performances.”
This is PSY’s first time performing in Mainland China.
