If this week doesn’t make up for the boring selection of live music during the holidays, then we don’t know what will. Japanese sensory overload with Trippple Nippples, international affairs with Adam Lambert, release parties with noisemakers Death to Giants and The Horde, celtic harp music… Read on for our rundown of all the events happening on stages across Shanghai. And if that’s still not enough, head over to our calendar for more.

Local electro rockers Give Band are back again for another night with their live electro sound. Click here for some samples.

Trippple Nippples @ Arkham
Arkham report back, and they do it with a bang: Imagine Lady Gaga came from Japan, had two clones and actually did something cool, artsy and innovative instead of plastic pop. And dieted on caffeine pills, sugar syrup and shrooms. What the all-female Japanese punk/psycho/drama queen/dance trio does on stage is so incredibly baffling, unbearable, over-the-top and entertaining, it would be a shame to miss it out. My tip for the week. After the live spectacle, Arkham switches to the usual club mode. Video: Trippple Nippples Live in the USA (YT).
80RMB // 10pm // 1 Wulumuqi Road, near Hengshan Road (乌鲁木齐路1号, 近衡山路)
Out of Control China Tour 2013 @ Yuyintang
4 musicians, 4 different cities in China, 4 different backrounds – and one shared passion: Rock and Roll. Beijing-based rock quartett Out of Control are my tip for all that like their rock a bit more home-made and grubby. Check them out here. Support band: DimatiX.
30RMB presale, 40RMB door // 9:00pm // Yuyintang // 851 Kaixuan Lu, near Yan’an Xi Lu (凯旋路851号, 近延安西路口)

380-980RMB // 7:30pm // Mercedes Benz Arena // 1200 EXPO Avenue, Pudong (世博大道1200号 浦东)
Spring String Concert @ Yuyintang
Is it spring yet? I wish. YYT welcomes the season of regeneration together with Wabisabi, MLT, HIS and Qiao Tianjiao. Expect a softer night with Japanese and Chinese rock music that won’t rough-handle your neck as much as the night before. And it’s all for free – nice!
Free // 7:30pm // Yuyintang // 851 Kaixuan Lu, near Yan’an Xi Lu (凯旋路851号, 近延安西路口)
