M on the Bund and Glamour Bar are preparing to host the 2013 Shanghai LitFest, which runs from March 1-17. This is what you can expect.
For three weeks, novelists, journalists, food writers, biographers, Sinologists, explorers, cinematographers and more discuss a richly diverse selection of genres in interactive forums and individual sessions. Altogether, 69 authors, film producers and artists from all over the world will participate. M has put together a neat and comprehensive list with author bios here.
There is a lot going on every day from discussions over novels, politics and culture to writing workshops and acvitities for children. Even photography and publishing, and a visit to a local food market together with a food writer are on the schedule. Make sure you check out and download the full programme. The first day will kick off with a literary lunch and a multipart fiction workshop in the afternoon, and the official opening party from 6pm.
Literary Session tickets cost 75 yuan (including one drink), but special student tickets are available for 20 yuan (including one soft drink) for those with a valid student ID. The Literary Lunch events cost 188 yuan and include a three course meal.
You can purchase tickets online or directly at M on the Bund on the day of each event (10am-5pm, subject to availability).
