A 19 year old Chinese college student in the US, who is facing a vehicular-homicide charge, was bailed for $2 million, the House News reports.
Xu Yichun is accused of driving his Mercedes-Benz at an excessive speed before it crashed, killing a 25 year old woman and injuring three others.
His family posted the $2 million bail to free him from custody, an almost unheard of amount of money. King County prosecutor’s chief of staff Ian Goodhew said his office requested the high bail because of concerns Xu will flee the country.
Xu Yichun’s father is CEO of TaxChina Inc.
Xu was charged with six offences. He admitted that he had a driving license in China, but lacked an international license and any experience of driving in the US.
Xu was ordered to surrender his passport.
