Iain Inglis, a Cardiff man who has lived in China for the past eight years, made it to the final 16 on China’s Got Talent. According to Inglis he was due to compete in the final, until the Communist Party stepped in.
Inglis, who dressed in a military uniform and performed patriotic Communist songs which he’d taught himself to sing by listening to a CD over and again, told the British press:
As far as I knew I was through to the final round. But the day before I was due to perform I got a phone call saying the Bureau of Broadcasting said I wasn’t able to go on. There was no real reason given – perhaps they weren’t very keen on having a foreigner singing songs about Communism. I was very disappointed, but that’s just how it is.
