Talk about planning in advance: a Chinese woman has purchased a Manhattan apartment worth $6.5 million for her two year old daughter to attend university.
According to the South China Morning Post, the woman had told Kevin Brown, her real estate agent in New York, that she was purchasing the apartment for her daughter to attend “Columbia University, New York University or maybe Harvard in the future.”
In an interview with CCTV, Brown said: “So I said how old is your daughter, and she said she was two. I was just shocked.”
Chinese buyers are now the second biggest foreign real estate buyers in the US, having spent $9 billion on real estate in 2012.
