Happy Easter, Shanghai. Here’s the 100 percent Easter egg free Weekendist edition of things to do this weekend. Nothing hidden here. But if you really wanna get your hands on some chocolate Easter bunnies, I remember seeing some hiding behind a big price tag at M&S. And if that’s still not enough, head over to our calendar for more.

Swede Dream @ Bar Rouge
Swedish party with Swedish music at Bar Rouge. Now that’s something different after all the Italo, French house, foxy salsa and whatelse parties in town. Let’s pray it doesn’t mean Abba on rotation. They’ve got really cool stuff, too.

Gaby Steiner: Urban Gaps 都市缝隙 @ Pantocrátor Gallery
Brand new photo exhibition by Gaby Steiner:
The modernization of Chinese society produces images of fast pacing global cities. New buildings come along with the destruction of older areas. The demolition creates blank spaces, an urban wasteland of shredded bricks with traces of broken furniture, a chair, a curtain and plastic bags. In the background there is the horizon of newly erected high rise buildings. The wasteland is called short-term potential spaces ready for development and exists as a metaphor for fast-paced capitalism. […]
Gaby Steiner’s portraits of the inhabitants show what is left for them: the dignity of one day that could be the last in their area. There are images that show a young mother with her boy on her arm posing in front of her old home, an old lady on a chair sitting in front of her unheated house to grasp some warmth of the sun and the self confident look of a young man passing a narrow lane.
Free // 2-6pm // Pantocrátor Gallery // Bld. 4B 105, 50 Moganshan Lu , near Xi Suzhou Lu (莫干山路50号4B栋楼105室)

Sunday Live @ Live Bar
They call it the Pre-PiL show – just 300 kuai cheaper than the main act. To be precise, it’s even more than that if you don’t have a presale ticket. What you get here is four bands for zero bucks, and that’s a pretty nice way to spend the Sunday afternoon. On stage:
Free // 2pm // Live Bar // 800 Guoshun Dong Lu, near Shuangyang Lu (国顺东路800号 近双阳路)
The Matinée Launch Party @ ZEAL
New Sunday afternoon party at Zeal. Funky and deep house tunes and free flow prosecco and sangria await you for 220RMB. Hopefully they’ll serve sangria with decent wine and fresh fruit and not that tetra pak “treat” that usually crosses my mind when I hear free flow sangria.
220RMB // 3pm // Zeal // 6/F, 22 Zhongshan Dong Er Lu, near Xin Yongan Lu (中山东二路22号6楼，近新永安路)
