If you’re going to doctor your photos, at least do a half decent job. The Neijiang Daily, a party newspaper in south east Sichuan, received widespread criticism and ridicule after publishing the above pixelated mess. The paper’s photographer had attempted to cut out men standing behind the local Party secretary, which resulted in some blurry legs and extra shadows.
The photoshopping was so obvious that the paper’s editorial department had to issue a public apology, saying “The photographer simplified the image, cut out and covered up some passers-by and onlookers […] We thank and welcome readers and netizens for the supervision of our work.”
Sure you do, Neijiang Daily. At least it was better than the “levitating officials” photoshop catastrophe of 2011.
