A fire which broke out in a hotel in Xiangyang, Hubei province has killed eleven people and injured at least 50 others.
Xinhua reports that the fire started soon after 6:30 on Sunday morning but was not extinguished for another two and a half hours.
Many of the hotel’s guests were able to escape by themselves while others waited for help.
While the cause of the blaze is still under investigation, according to firefighters, an internet cafe below the hotel is believed to have been where the fire originated.
Update 16.30 CST: Three people have died of their injuries according to the Shanghai Daily, bringing the total death toll to 14.
