A Chinese student is in a coma after being injured in the deadly bomb attacks during the Boston Marathon – which killed 3 and injured more than 150 others – according to officials at the Chinese consulate in New York.
The SCMP reports that the student is believed to be Zhou Danling, a female postgrad at Boston University.
In a message on its official website, Boston University confirmed that a student was among the injured, and that they are in “a stable condition”.
Zhou is believed to be a graduate of Wuhan University, and was pursuing postgraduate studies in actuarial science at Boston University.
78 people from mainland China and Hong Kong participated in the marathon, as did seven runners from Taiwan. .
UPDATE: Zhou has reportedly woken up from her coma, but remains unable to speak.
