A member of China’s National People’s Congress visited gambling dens and sex shows while leading a junket in Thailand, allegedly at public expense.
Huang Kangsheng, a low-ranking official from Zhanjiang, Guangdong province, led a group of 50 delegates on a government funded trip to Southeast Asia in June 2012 that involved sex shows and gambling.
In photos, Huang is seen posing with transsexual entertainers and holding their breasts.
According to a whistleblower, Huang Baochun, the cost of the trip was over 300,000 yuan. Huang Baochun said he found the spending of public money on gambling and sex shows “intolerable” and this was the reason he reported the trip using his real name.
The Zhanjiang government has publicly criticised Huang Kangsheng and ordered him to submit a written statement about the trip. Whistleblower Huang told reporters that this was a shoddy attempt at a coverup and that the official should be placed on probation or expelled from the CPC “according to relevant laws”.
