The decomposed body of a man was found in a dormitory at Nanchang Hangkong University in Jiangxi province on Wednesday, China Daily reports.
Although the identity of the dead man has not yet been confirmed, authorities believe him to be a graduate student surnamed Peng.
Peng was a resident of the dorm where the body was found. His classmate, Zheng Qichong, had been contacted by Peng’s parents after they had been unable to reach their son. It was when he went to check on Peng that the body was discovered.
“It […] smelled foul in the room. The head of the body was covered in clothes. You saw blood and maggots moving on the floor. However, I’m not sure whether it’s Peng,” said Zheng.
The university also confirmed online rumors that the dead man was dressed in high-heeled shoes and silk stockings upon discovery.
This case accounts for the third death to take place on a Chinese college campus within the past week. Evidence released so far does not suggest foul play.
