Flumageddon fears have led to plummeting sales of fowl throughout China, and accompanying booms in the beef trade. General public caution, coupled with the occasional mass-slaughter, have not been kind to poultry purveyors. The bird flu has now caused 18 deaths and 85 infections, and is probably transmittable between people. Beef certainly sounds like a good idea, but don’t be too surprised when H7N9 headlines are overshadowed by Cow Plague or Bovine Influenza.
