More people have been arrested for smuggling milk formula from Hong Kong into the mainland since March 1, when a new regulation came into effect restricting the travellers to two cans each, than all drug smuggling-related arrests last year combined, according to Bloomberg.
As of April 23, 879 people have been arrested and 8,841 kg of milk powder has been seized by Hong Kong police and custom officials.
Meanwhile, in all of 2012, only 420* were arrested for trying to bring drugs across the border.
