On April 28, a 20 year old woman went into an illegal medical clinic seeking a nose reshaping surgery. According to the the Huangpu District police, the resulting procedure went so drastically awry, she was left blind in her left eye.
City police said Monday they had detained the man, surnamed Huang, who allegedly ran the clinic and performed the disastrous procedure, according to the Shanghai Daily.
Huang gave the victim, surnamed Liu, two shots of ossein (collagen of bones) in her nose. Later, Liu found she was unable to see out of her left eye.
Cheng Jinwei, a doctor with Changzheng Hospital, said the ossein injected into her nose blocked the veins leading to the eye.
Huang – who told police he came to Shanghai about one year ago – said it was “like the eye was hit with paralysis”.
Liu was admitted for treatment at Changzheng Hospital, however doctors there said the chance of her regaining eyesight in the affected eye “is almost impossible”.
Despite the fact that he did not have a license to practice medicine, Huang turned a small, rented apartment into a makeshift private clinic equipped with the bare essentials, police said.
Huang told police that before he came to Shanghai he was in the southern Guangzhou City and worked in a beauty and cosmetic salon.
The plastic material for the cosmetic changes was also bought from Guangzhou.
Let this be a lesson to everyone not to get plastic surgery from sketchy guys in their apartments, no matter how low their prices are.
