Chinese gaming company Tencent has released the trailer for War of Zombie, an ‘American-style’ shoot-’em-up horror game that has been in the works since 2010.
The game was developed solely for the Chinese market, according to its Korean publisher, Vertigo Games, and will reportedly be released later this year.
The promotional trailer is hosted by Canadian fashion model (?) Rick Genest, AKA Zombie Boy (??), who explains that gamers can “play six different zombies and four zombie modes” and that the “exciting feeling of killing and simple operation will excite all fans of zombies!”
The verdict is still out on what an ‘American-style zombie shooting game’ is, but according to FrontPage Mag, the new American zombie film World War Z has reportedly run into Chinese censor problems because its script describes a zombie outbreak that originated in China.
Perhaps China doesn’t want to associate itself with any kind of zombie-pocalypse in light of the deadly H7N9 virus that has made global headlines after killing dozens of people across the country.
Or maybe it just reflects Americans’ enthusiasm for carrying guns.
