Chinese netizens are abuzz over an incident between a female police officer and a flight attendant on a flight from Guizhou to Hong Kong.
The officer asked the flight attendant from Hong Kong Airlines if the plane could wait so that she can run out to buy a pack of smokes for her superior officer.
According to the SCMP, the flight attendant responded: “Sorry, I can’t make passengers of the entire aircraft wait for you to go out and buy cigarettes. I need to shut the door now. Please do not interfere with my plane taking off”.
The flight attendant has since garnered much praise from all over the Internet.
Some have questioned the authenticity of the story, saying that the photo being spread around is of an inspector and not of those involved.
Hong Kong Airlines has since confirmed the incident.
The story’s popularity has once again raised questions over officials and their privileges.

Recently, this story has been trending online. Why has such a small incident caused such a large wave of response? To put it plainly, people still seriously mistrust certain members of the hierarchy. If one wants to earn the people’s trust, one needs to clean up one’s act.
This is also not the first time that an official has gotten into trouble with a flight attendant. In August 2012, an official was accused of hitting a flight attendant while on a plane to Guangzhou.
